BOY MEETS GIRL FOR FIRST TIME
TV SHOWS | Tue, 05 May 2009

The Office's Martin Freeman gets intimate with Lewis actress Rachael Stirling in a new gender-swapping comedy this Friday.

Boy Meets Girl sees Martin Freeman and Rachael Stirling swap sexes in a new four-part series that takes the expression 'girl trouble' to a new extreme.

The comedy-drama follows the same format as the 2006 romantic movie It's a Girl Boy Thing, which sees a young couple swap bodies – before falling in love with each other.

"This isn't the first sex-swap story on TV or in the movies." Freeman told to TV Times Magazine: "But it's not going to be like What Women Want, with Mel Gibson in tights! I’m not tottering about in women's shoes or wearing a bra."

Like the film, the TV series Boy Meets Girl sees Freeman's dodgy DIY character, Danny Reed, trapped in the body of female journalist Veronica Burton (Sterling) when he's hit by a bolt of lightning.

Instead of falling in love, however, the TV show follows the characters as they struggle to get their lives back. Unable to locate one another, and finding it hard to cope with their new bodies, the series sees the couple scouring the streets for an answer.

Boy Meets Girl premieres on ITV1 this Friday, May 1, at 9pm. Will you be watching?
